The Warmer Healthier Homes (WHH) project began in Nelson-Tasman in 2014 with a partnership between Rata Foundation, NTHT, Nelson City Council, and Nelson Marlborough DHB, with further funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).

In 2015, WHH was extended to Marlborough with funding from Marlborough District Council and Rata Foundation (Marlborough Trustees), and EECA.

To March 2018, the Warmer Healthier Homes project has completed the following insulation retrofits in Nelson Tasman, and Marlborough:

  • Nelson: 624 homes insulated
  • Tasman: 209 homes insulated
  • Marlborough:  232 homes insulated
  • Total  1065 Homes insulated

The positive effects of improved insulation in homes are well documented:
