Warmer Healthier Homes Nelson-Marlborough insulation project

NTHT coordinates the Warmer Healthier Homes Nelson-Marlborough insulation project, providing insulation grants to eligible homeowners and renters in Nelson, Tasman, and Marlborough.

Who can apply?

Insulation Grants are currently available for rental properties where the tenant holds a valid Community Services Card.

The Warmer Healthier Homes (WHH) project began in Nelson-Tasman in 2014 with a partnership between Rata Foundation, NTHT, Nelson Marlborough DHB, and Nelson City Council, with further funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).


In 2015, WHH was extended to Marlborough with funding from Marlborough District Council and Rata Foundation (Marlborough Trustees), and EECA. 


To October 2017, the WHH project has provided the following number of insulation retrofits in Nelson Tasman, and Marlborough:


  • Nelson: 445 homes insulated
  • Tasman: 156 homes insulated
  • Marlborough:  139 homes insulated
  • Total  740 Homes insulated
