Collaborative effort secures bike for tenant

Nelson Tasman Housing Trust Tenancy Manager Tanya Rich went the extra mile recently to source a bike for a tenant, who needed a bike to get to school.

Putting her community connections to good use, Tanya arranged for the high school student, Sadhana, to visit Bike Hub Nelson with her father Jayaram. Bike Hub Nelson is a community organisation which collects donated bikes,  fixes them if required and gives them to people.

During the visit a Bike Hub Nelson volunteer matched Sadhana with a suitable bike, ensured it was set up correctly for her, and gave her some useful tips and advice. Sadhana was also given a helmet and bike lock.

Sadhana was delighted with her new wheels, and said she was looking forward to using the bike to commute to school as it would be a lot quicker than walking.
